Household Policy

Béchard Residence, Central Florida
March 2026 • Prepared by Alyson S Murphy • Companion to Employment Contract dated March 13, 2026

What This Document Is

The employment contract references workplace policies for benefits, vacation, and work schedule. This document covers the household-specific parts that a corporate handbook does not: the daily realities of a live-in nanny arrangement.

This does not replace any existing Lipton Window & Door policies. Where company policies exist, they come first. This fills the gaps.

This is an honor agreement. Not a legal document. If something stops working, we talk about it. Five areas are covered: Schedule, On-Duty / On-Call / Off-Duty, Communication, Holidays, and Cost-of-Living Adjustment.

Two Stages

Stage 1: Both parties agree in principle. Details can still be adjusted.

Stage 2: After 90 days, both parties finalize the details based on real experience. Once Stage 2 is confirmed, the policy is locked.

Stage 1 stays in effect until Stage 2 replaces it.

🔗

Stage 1: Entente de principe

Agreement in principle. Details have room to move.

Policy 1

Schedule & Availability

Weekdays

  • 8:00 AM: School drop-off
  • 8:30 AM to 3:20 PM: On call (available, not actively working). Includes a 2-hour off-duty break.
  • 3:20 to 6:00 PM: On duty (pickup, after-school care)
  • After 6:00 PM: Off duty

Weekends

Generally off. Available when Phil has guests or needs support.

School Breaks & Summer

When Félix travels with Phil, Alyson is off. Salary continues year-round. Responsibilities during those periods: house and cats.

Days Off

Minimum 1.5 days off per week. Sunday preferred. The half-day is flexible.

Room to move: Exact hours and break timing can be adjusted during the first 90 days.
Policy 2

On-Duty / On-Call / Off-Duty

Alyson lives where she works. Clear definitions prevent misunderstandings.

On Duty

Actively working. Full attention on the household.

On Call

Available and nearby, not actively working. Responds if something comes up.

Off Duty

Off the clock. May leave the premises. No obligation to respond to non-emergencies.

Response Times

  • Emergency: Immediate. Always.
  • On call: Within 45 minutes.
  • Off duty: Courtesy response within 45 minutes, no obligation.
Room to move: Response times are negotiable. The three categories are the principle.
Policy 3

Communication

One Channel

We agree on one communication channel for all household matters. One place, nothing lost. Alyson recommends Signal. Phil picks the app. Alyson confirms every request in writing.

The 11 AM Rule

  • Request before 11 AM → handled today.
  • Request after 11 AM → handled tomorrow.
  • Emergencies → immediate, always.

Email

For formal requests or paper trails, use Alyson's work email: justask@alysononline.com. Her personal email stays personal. For everyday communication, use the designated channel.

Room to move: The app, the 11 AM cutoff, and reporting frequency are all adjustable.
Policy 4

Holidays

Alyson works every holiday. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, all of them.

Two Lead-Up Days

Alyson selects 2 holidays per year and receives a paid day off in the week before each one. Three months' notice. Thanksgiving is her priority.

Birthdays

Come out of vacation days or regular days off.

Room to move: Number of lead-up days and notice period are adjustable.
Policy 5

Cost-of-Living Adjustment

Annual salary: $60,000. This policy keeps it current.

The Principle

A dollar today buys less than a dollar last year. Groceries, gas, insurance, everyday costs go up. If salary stays flat, Alyson earns less each year for the same work. A cost-of-living adjustment is not a raise. It keeps the salary worth what it was worth when both parties agreed to it.

How It Works

Each year on the employment anniversary, both parties review what things actually cost in Orlando and agree on an adjustment. The salary moves forward. It never goes down. The specific method is finalized in Stage 2.

Room to move: How we measure the change, timing, and whether there is a cap are all open for discussion.

🔗 Stage 1: Entente de principe

Both parties agree to the five policies above in principle. Details have room to move. Your word is enough.

Stage 2: Final Policy

After the 90-day settling period. Details finalized based on lived experience. Once signed, this stage is locked.

How Stage 2 Works

After 90 days, both parties review the five policies, adjust what needs adjusting, and affirm the final version. Once both affirm Stage 2, the policy is locked. Changes after that require a new version.

Target date: On or around July 6, 2026.

🔒 Stage 2: Politique finale

After 90 days, both parties finalize and lock the policy.

🔒 Stage 2 affirmation is available after both parties have affirmed Stage 1 and the 90-day evaluation period has been completed. Target date: on or around July 6, 2026.
